Emulators?

I have the ability to purchase a set of race tech emulators for my TRX, however I am not mechanically minded so I do not know whether they would suit/needed? I am intending on getting my forks rebuilt (new springs and whatever necessary) as I think it would be the only time since they were made that it would have been done. My question is this - what do they do? and should I get them if rebuilding my forks? (Should be able to get them for a decent price)

They emulate the operation of a cartridge type fork, which use shim stacks to control the damping. Plenty bumf on how they work on the Race Tech website.

IMO they are the best thing to do to standard forks + change the springs. Again IMO probably as effective a mod as fitting later model Yamaha USD forks but less hassle and cheaper................. 8)

Yes have a shuffle back over acouple of weeks mate you'll see a few links on the subject explaining the mechanics to it all and how the oil flow works for compression and also weight works for damping... It's my next investment ..... :D

I have them in mine, plus new .9kg Eibach (Racetech) springs.

Do it... you won't be sorry.

If you're a big lad you'll need at least 10wt oil in them

So.. I finally got these emulators (for around $100 delivered) and am now on the hunt for some springs. Have already contacted shock treatment (Aussie Racetech distributor) and I can get a set of springs for $200 delivered. Is this a good price? Good item? What other options are out there?

What else do I need to source to get these forks sorted??

Haha nah, you bought them off my mate Tony/Frosty. I told him I was thinking about getting a TRX850 but I thought it already had emulators... he offered them to me but I thought he was gonna hold on to them atleast until I made up my mind on buying the bike!!! You got a pretty sweet deal there mate.

dammm Blown a fork seal today so looks like while I'm at it I might as well i got the excuse now to go the whole hog and get some of them emulators fitted while I'm at it... 8) already have the .9 eilback springs.. :D Thought it was a bit of diesel on the road goin thro that right hand sweeper but it was the oil weeping down from the fork after a bit of heavy braking a little earlier no doubt which was the straw that broke the camels back..  lucky i stopped for fuel just after the sweeper... :)
