Renntec racks & longer seat catches

Right - I've got a Renntec rack that I've just thrown on the bike in preparation for my trip to Italy next month. With it in place and the pannier strap the seat catch isn't long enough to enage unless you space it out and then smack it into place. But .....

then the effing seat release doesn't work  (I've finally got the seat off  )

I'm sure you get a longer seat catch with the rack but I must have sold it attached to a spare seat

Anyone got a spare longer seat catch? Or one I can borrow for a couple of weeks at the begining of May?

I also have a renntec rack, not installed yet but I plan to use it the upcoming weekend.
I don't understand your problem entirely... should I be worried? :|

Best get in the garage and try

The way the rack fits means that the rear seat pad (or cowl in my case) is raised up and does not sit as it normally would. For me, that meant that I couldn't get the seat catch to engage without a bit of pressure. No great problem on it's own but when I also tried to run the strap for the soft panniers under the seat that meant that the catch would not secure the seat.

:D Should have asked before Foxes Pete!!, as my spare is looser than the one on the bike,by about half a centimetre, would have bought it along so you could have tried it.
If your near Peterborough/Huntingdon area..............................

OKay, I 've been to the garage and tried... now I see what you mean.
Can someone please give the dimensions of that little special Renntec piece?
I have a strip of aluminium, I'll make one myself. If I have the dimensions it will be a lot easier (and faster).
