Any use to anyone on the list? I've always wondered what/how/why about blue spot calipers and removing the blue bits??!!

I think you'll find a few people on this forum have removed the blue spots (have a look at Honk's black spots )

and cheaper....I feel a spot of blick anodising coming on!! I've had the bike since December so I'm about due a fix!!!!

have a look at some of handsome jacks (ithink) posts ne discovered that drain clean gets rid of it and has since told us all how to do it at every chance he has had. suprised he has not told you already.

Spooky but I thouight I'd sent a response to your original posting about the self same tool!

I've heard that there's a unique seal behind these plugs that Mr. Yamaha won't be selling you in a hurry... fek the seal and fek the caliper...

Now, I did mine 'conventionally' with no problems at all, the only minor arse-ache was figuring out a way of holding the pistons back so that only one popped out at a time.. Brake fluid spraying everywhere, pistons dropping out when they shouldn't, but success in the end.

I bled the system backwards - syringing fluid through the calipers up into the master cyinder ... brake fluid spraying everywhere ..etc etc... but I got there in the end.

Don't forget the old trick of using a rubber band to hold the brake on overnight once you've bled the system - it shouldn't work, but it does and allows all those pesky last teenyweeny (technical term there) bubbles to percolate their weary way back up to the reservoir...

You can use large cable ties to secure as many of the pistons as you like,a piece of tightly folded cardboard to take up any diferences between the cable tie and the point it meets the piston often works fine.
And those seals behind the screw in caliper plugs?
I`m guessing the seals won`t be `type` specific to just Yamaha,likely they`ll be available it you shop around firms specialising in pump or hydraulic seals.
A while back I was told a yamaha water pump and seal assembly was sold as a complete unit,170 ferkin quid!
After stripping and taking the unit to a local pump seal and bearing supplier a 15 quid crate of larger later and it was all sorted.

Place in Wizbeckistan just up the road specialises in Pneumatic hoses, joints and seals, and they will make up 'O' rings to the thickness you require, check your yellow pages or Thompson directory for the one near you.

yamaha specifically recommend you DONT remove the caps. You can fully service the caliper without removing them anyway..
