HELP

Post by reg » Sun Sep 07, 2008 9:24 am

Hi , i'm new to this site.

I am running a 96 trx in an off road buggy useing the stock airbox & pipes, mufflers.
On start up from dead cold, the motor runs but the left hand cylinder, looking from the back, takes about 10 seconds before it comes on line, then after it is warm it starts with no problems all day, :? does anybody know what could be causing this ?.

It pulls like a 16 year old, does'nt blow smoke or use oil.

Allso i'm toying with the idea of making a 2 into 1 system for it, mainly to get rid of the big heavy mufflers, has anyone done this or is it a bad idea.

Any help muchly appreciated
Reg... great site by the way :D

Hi and Welcome.
I think you will find that is is quite common on TRXs, Mine does it from cold, as do, it seems, most of the others. as this had been covered before.

as for 2-1 systems, arka make a unit, and many ppl do it to shed a few kg's. It gives more mid range, but i dont have one so i wouldnt quote me on it..

I have a 2 into 1 system that i could let go quite cheaply. It may suit your application perfectly. Whereabouts are you ? I'm guessing Australia as theres been a few Pirahnas popping up lately.

Heres the system here Reg. it came from a TRX motor that was fitted to a CBR400 frame so the link pipe sits out a bit wider than it would on a TRX. The can is the bolt on type Honda MC 22. The pipes are all stainless and would clean up nicely. All that would be required to finish it would be some perforated tube and some packing with your choice of either the carbon sleeve or the alloy one (carbon one would need to be cut down shorter to clean it up.) Plus a few rivets. Yours for $150 as is or $250 complete, polished and finished off. Most wreckers would have these bolt on cans for about $100. Bonus is you can sell your complete system and recoup your costs.

Thanks for posting up the pic mate, at the moment i'm building a Barracuda frame so if i can get the TRX to sit a bit higher in the frame i will buy it off you, otherwise the pipes need to come out the side of the motor which means i would have to chop up what you already have, i'll see how i go.

Thanks Reg
