And how much does it cost (the gasket that is). Had a continuous weep of oil from where the sump mates up to the motor, at the back near the oil tank drain bolt, above the oil filter casing.Found the first pool of oil on the garage floor today, not good Probably could do it myself, though it means taking off the exhaust pipessimple job, but never easy. Probably the original sump gasket, too. If I can't be arsed, I'll just buy all the parts (oil filter, o-rings, washers, sump gasket and exhaust port gaskets) and take it to a TRX friendly mechanic, that way all I have to pay for is labour and oil.

When you take the sump pan off (engine in bike) there are 3 o-rings with dowels through them that will fall out on the floor. These are all different sizes and only fit in their unique locations.

There are also 2 dowels to locate the sump pan on the lower crankcase that could fall out.

is there loads of crud in there when you take this sump pan off ??

probably a lot of sludge. tbh it's gonna be a crap job to do with the motor in the frame.

Bob Id check the bolts first could be a couple of loose ones causing the leak. I removed and cleaned out mine with no dramas. Did fit new gasket and o rings also inspected relief valve another o ring reqd for that as well.

Dobbo, bought a deflecting beam torque wrench the other day and cleaned all that area up and torqued up the oil filter cover bolts (10Nm) and the oil filter drain bolt (the one with the copper washer) (30Nm). all the 10Nms clicked, but I still haven't reached 30 on the bigger bolt , don't wanna push my luck in case I crack anything - BUT - so far no leaks after I started it up and ran it for about 10 mins - Touch wood

Fingers crossed Bob, gaskets and o rings for Yamahas are not cheap.
