oxford hot grips

Post by pwmotorsports » Fri Dec 21, 2007 6:14 pm

so when at the NEC i thought id treat myself to some oxford hot grips they looked well made and plenty warm so installed them today and all went okay with the install but there was a problem when turning them on the problem was that they wouldnt turn on they instead simply flash 5 times which the manual tells me means the highly sophisticated chip in the grips thinks the battery is to low to allow me to run them so instead it stops them from working so i thought okay ill run the bike for a while them try again...... same thing bike starts fine battery is charged okay the battery isnt very old maybe 2 months at most so what to do now ? oxford were uninterested simply telling me to go back where i bought them but the damm things are glued on as per instructions and i dont want to unglue them really so what are my options now ? any way i can boost the feed to the grips so they behave ? anyone else had this problem ?

:D Thicker gloves and inners!

Have you read the Oxford destructions as to what power it requires, and compared it to what it is actually getting (volts, amps etc).

shure you used large enough wiring. voltage drop in litlewires will give you that problem. do a voltage reading when you try and turn them on.

all sorted now seems the tiny bit od drain taken to start the bike is enough to make the grips not work but 100ft down the road all is well and works fine
