electrical woes

Hi guys, need some help if you can. Here's the symptoms:

key in, switched on ignition, all good. press starter, bike splutters and doesnt start. not an issue - hasnt been run for a couple of weeks and is cold.

try again: theres a audible click and neutral light and headlight goes out without turning starter. dead, completely. try turning ignition on and off but no effect: no electrics what-so-ever.
fuses are fine - theyre the first thing i checked.

so, whats up with it? im thinking ignition circuit and check the haynes manual and it looks a bit beyond me to check or fix it, which will mean it being picked up by a garage and fixed, which could be expensive as it looks like changing the ignition circuit might take a while.

does anyone have any ideas? even if its just to confirm its the ignition circuit. and, after that, anyone know any reasonable garages in south london that might be able to do it!

thanks a lot guys, appreciated.

Jak's right!
That's where I'd start as well, charge it properly, measure the voltage before/ after. Some workshops/gas stations might have a proper testing equipment, sometimes the battery fails when loaded, but seems healthy otherwise. If that's not the issue, it might be the solenoid or starter that' short-circuiting.

be wary when checking fuses, sometimes a visual check isn't good enough. (a visual check is most commonly what people mean when they say the checked fuses)

Check them for continuity.
