no, no and check the emulsion tubes that are in there. Do you have any problems with starting?

hard to tell at the moment what the problem is with starting but having been sat fro 3 years then ridden 15 miles then sat for a year i suspect some crap in the carbs but untill i get the plugs out i dont know if its the carbs or not

The common wearing parts in the carbs are emulsion tubes and needles.

Replace the emulsion tubes, and clean the carbs at the same time.

It's apparrently a common problem for Diapragms to split although I've never seen a split one. Might be worth investing in new ones to replace while the carbs are apart. I don't recall any parts being very expensive.

I also replaced all the screws on my carbs with stainless hex socket bolts, which makes repeated disassembly much easier.

but what worrys me is this on the factory pro site ?
Factory produces stock replacement needle jets / emulsion tubes for Mikuni carburetors

These Factory Pro Design "Mikuni style" needle jets are threaded for Genuine Mikuni or Factory Pro "M221 Series" main jets, but not dynojet

There are no jets screwed into the needle jet.

Even if there were, the DJ jets would have to have the same thread as the Mikuni jets, so the DJ jets would still fit.

Worry not.

take no notice the thread is the same ,,they just hate dynojet ,,clue ,,both companies make dyno,s and its a big money game

The domed brass nut at the top of the picture is on the end of the needle jet.

As you can see there are no jets screwed into the needle jet.

is changing the emulsion tubes a relatively straight forward job? and resetting the floats etc , im needing to do mine but in two minds wether to order the parts and just have a go as i do have mechanical experience but none with pertol and carbs or do i spend more money on a dealership and take my chances that the fitter has done it before :(

and were in the uk do i get stuff from and exactly what do i need?? and what is a waste of time changing i have looked on http://www.factorypro.com but im based in england

sorry for so many questions
but the sooner i get it done the sooner i can go out again

emulsion tubes is an easy job.

if you're careful you won't need to reset the floats.

straightline racing are the UK agent for FactoryPro.

do it yourself. if you feck it up, you can put it right - all for free. if the dealer does it, it'll cost you and no guarantees it'll be right.
