bleeding oil system after engine re-build?

I am almost there... After more than 4 months of misery, my Rex is almsot ready for the start-up.

But first I wanted to make sure I got oil-pressure, before I let the ol' lady sing out loud. I have now run the engine on the starter for all in all a couple of minutes, but there is no sign of oil in the hole on the left side of the head. Now it's late, and I cant annoy the neighbours above the garage any longer, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow.

I have done a complete rebuild of the engine, new crank, new oil pumps, the lot... I suspect the pumps currently only suck air? Does anyone have had this problem, and knows a solution? (Who knows, Mr Gravity might even fix it while I get my beauty sleep...)

problem solved. Did loosen the drain bolt on the right hand side, and then tried again, somewhat more persistent, an d voila! No clue whether losening the drain bolt had anything to do with it though...

Hi Hans..

FWIW whenever I've done a re-build, I've just made sure that everything is drenched with oil or a smear of light grease prior to start-up. Never had any problems !! :D

Good to know that it's running though!

Hi Hans!

Glad we could help ...

The problems that are solved by themselves / easily are the best.

Whishing you the best for the rest of the season with your "new" engine!

Keeping fingers crossed greetings from Munich!
