Ok i listed this in the other site and was told to come across to this one, so here is the question again, sorry if you have already read it.
Has anyone experienced a rattling noise around 3500 rpm when you are not hard into it. My bike makes what i thought to be a cam chain rattle around 3500 rpm when i am just cruising along, say i am doing 60km/h just on the throttle and keeping up with traffic it is loud. But when I get into it and pull the throttle back it can't be heard. When I am maintaining my speed through long bends it is bloody annoying.
Has anyone had a similar sound.
I have pulled the cam chain tensioner out checked it and all is good, pulled the valve cover off and checked the tension on the cam chain and everything seems fine however there is a bit of sideways movement when pushed with a screw driver. Spoke to the Yamaha mechanic and he has never heard of if.
Any help would be appreciated.

Found the problem, it was the tensioner after all. I took the valve cover off and pushed on the tensioner with a screw driver whilst having the alternator bolt rotated. This got another 3 clicks out of the tensioner and tightened the cam chain, it was pretty bloody loose after all. Springs in the tensioner are obviously on their way out.
Problem solved hopefully.

How wrong could I have been. Took it for a ride and guess what, that bloody rattle is still there as bad as ever.
Not only that now the thing won't run. Has no power and when I pull the throttle all the way back it just dies as though it is flooded or not getting any fuel. I swear I must have let a black cat walk in front of me or something.
