hi all,
first off happy new year to you all.
what i would like to know is there a way of adjusting the air mixture screw while the engine is running or is there a tool to adjust them.
i have a 1997 trx 850. the problem im having is when i slowly rev it up to 2500 rpm it starts to splutter but if i give it a hard rev it goes to 5000+ rpm.
i took the bike out for a ride and it took off like a rocket.( i thought great its all sorted) but i get into 4th or 5th gear it starts to splutter again.
so here is a list of what i have done,
original exhaust and cans
carb kits (keyster)
float level spot on
balancing spot on
new plugs
compression 150+ psi both sides
new fuel tap and pump
new vacuum hoses for the tap and pump
new inlet manifold rubbers
new chain (no slack)
tank is clean (no rust) new filters
i tried the air/mix at 2.5 turns out and on idle the exhaust was popping so i turn then back in to 2.0 and this is when the bike starts first time and idles
but is just getting the revs right.
i think i have tried and covered most of the possibilities that have been mentioned on this forum (great forum)

the other thing meant to ask was do i need to move the clip on the needle valve, at the moment it is at number 2 of 3.
