What would cause coolant to get onto oil. Any advise would be welcome. Ken.

Leaking head gasket or water pump seal.

Forgot to mention it is the head gasket. Ken.

Try Cobba's trick.
Separate the metal shims from the original head gasket, clean them up, then coat them with blue Hylomar and stick it all back together.
Saves you a few bucks and gets you a bit more compression.
Win,win.

Dicky, got a Yamaha head gasket and have fitted it but I have another question you may be able to help me with. The pipe that fits into the valve cover has a little pipe on its side can you tell me what attaches to it if anything. Once again thanks for help Ken.

Preheating for the carbs

Yep, carb heater circuit.
The small hose goes to the RHS carb, then couples across to the LHS carb, then winds its way back to the front of the thermostat housing.
It's probably not really needed in Oz, but I've left in place in case I ever ride on a cold morning.
Vaporizing petrol does reduce the temperature a lot, so icing up carbs is still a thing.
