Hi all, haven't really introduced myself before Ive got a 96 TRX, had it for 10 years and enjoy immensely tho don't really have time to ride it much
I discovered here the existence of the oil tank outlet filter and want to clean it Is it possible to remove it without much dismantling etc Manual not helpful on this point

Unscrew the clamp on the outlet hose and it’s held in by 2 screws.
Not much room in there and each time I’ve accessed them it’s been with the engine out.
You may have to remove a few engine mounts and pivot the motor downwards on the bottom rear engine mount. The screen filter is about 3 or 4 inches long.
There is also a screen filter in the bottom engine pan from which the scavenge pump draws from to return oil to the top sump.

I'm pretty sure Rod S said it can be done with everything still in place, it's just a bit messy. I meant to have a go myself but never did..

Was worth doing for peace of mind though

Out of interest, how many miles does 24 years equate to?

Its done about 29000 miles, standard except for acra exhaust and strange fairing Think about this mileage something is supposed to happen to the valves on 96 models, still goes alright though!

The inlet valves will start to deform and close up preeetttty quickly. Frequent checks recommended!
