Exhaust pipes fixing

Post by Red Rex » Sat Apr 04, 2020 3:25 pm

FFS !!! :angryfire:
Lovely sunny day, thought it would be a good idea to modify the belly pan rear fixing on Red Rex'
(It's a length of 8mm studding screwed into the engine casing under the gearbox)
Made a lovely new length of 8mm studding with flanged nuts and plastic sleeving over the exposed thread.
Unscrewed the 'old' fitting … and the bloody pipes have 'sprung' forward, and now it's about half a hole (4mm)
out of alignment and the new stud won't screw in !!!
Not Happy :x
Rubber side down, Red side up is my preferred riding style.

All is good now. A night's sleep and a re-think and everything is fixed. Phew !!

Just a note on that rear fixing bolt..on mine the head protruded from the faring and....I rode over a speed bump and it caught the head ripping it from the faring!! I've since recessed the head so that if I do it again it'll only graze the belly pan!
Photo of it gaffer taped together on the day! Image
If it's not made in China, it's a fake!
