TDM 4tx engine into TRX

Post by Dar » Tue Oct 29, 2019 8:59 pm

Hello

I have had a search through the forum and I think the engine should fit ok but can anyone shine some light on the issues I might have with neutral light/TPS etc. The story behind this is have recently got a TRX but keeps jumping out of 4th Gear so the plan as it stands is to put another engine in it till I have time to strip the trx engine and repair the gearbox and if it's out paint it. Cheers

The TPS is on the carbs so that won't be any trouble when you use the other engine with the orignal carbs.

The neutral sensor of a TDM 4TX is even better, as it has connections for all gears, whereas the TRX originally only has one connection, for neutral only.
Simply to connect to a DIY gear indicator. :P

You have to switch the oil tanks, that's the only thing I know. No personal experience though.

The 1st gear is a lot shorter with a TDM engine.

If it's not made in China, it's a fake!

Need to change over the gearchange crosshaft.
Best to fit the TRX loom, ecu and neutral switch - I seem to recall something about timing being retarded in lower gears on TDM - hence the 4 wires for the gear selector/neutral switch
