TPS - set up query

Currently trying to get to bottom of a common issue. Without going over same ol topic- have tried looking and cant find answer I want. Is it possible and how do I set up the TPS if I and not running a speedo/tacho??

Do you mean with original ECU or Ignitech unit?

I'm sure you need the tachometer installed. On closed throttle, the tacho should read 4000 when the TPS is in the correct position

There is info around with tacho installed , but was wondering if can be done off a multi meter as I’m sure I did it this way on another bike many moons ago( yzf750 comes to mind )

According to the service manual, the tacho should read 1k for too low an angle, 8k for too high and angle, and 4k for Goldilocks angle.
Setting a multimeter to AC volts and connected to the tacho wire of the ECU should be able to tell the difference between the three levels.

Is there anyone who has one set up properly that could take the readings on multimeter and post them up as I won’t have a clue if going the right or wrong way

The only experience I have is calibrating the TPS with original ECU and tacho. It is quite delicate, the middle value is hard to get.
If you connect the multimeter and adjust/turn the TPS "extremely" to both sides left/right (or clockwise and counter clockwise), I'm sure you can distinguish the upper and lower readings on the multimeter. And then try to get in the middle of it. Just as Dicky said. :)

Or, isn't it an option to temporarily connect a genuine tacho, just to make the calibration?
