Temperature never exceeds 70 degrees Celsius.....

Post by Trx Newbie 2017 » Sat Sep 02, 2017 11:32 am

I have had my TRX FOR about a month and a bit now, I picked up a 1999 (reg in 2000) model in fantastic condition with 9,500 miles on it, I have since put 1,000 miles on it, fixed a coolant leak, replaced the coolant pipes for performance samco ones and flushed the system twice. After riding for 15 mins, the bike is nice and hot but the temp gauge never exceeds 65-70 degrees... is this normal? The engine is nice and hot, bike runs lovely but the temperature gauge barely moves..... can anyone shed some light?
When entering a corner too fast, lean her over and pin the throttle open. This may or may not not improve the situation, however it will certainly end the suspense.

The only times you will see the temp needle rise is first gear in slow traffic or after ten minutes of warm up in neutral.

Nothing to worry about, it's completely normal.
If you get stuck in traffic on a 35C day you can expect it to hit 105 and turn the fans on, but otherwise it just hovers around 70C.

Yeah that's normal.
If you want to be sure its all working ok, unscrew the temp sensor from the top hose of the rad (need to lift the tank) and dip it in some hot water.

Also, remove the fan sensor plug and test it by bridging the wires with a paperclip - possible the fan has seized as they rarely come on
