coils, to buy or to keep

Post by Racer-unk » Tue Jul 18, 2017 3:20 pm

I have read a couple of threads that suggest replacing stock with after market coils.
Has anybody found definitive differences between good stock coils and Dyna coils?
Or is it nice to have?

Nothing wrong with the stock coils, just run the power to them via a relay and 15amp cabling directly from the battery and stick 14v up their date hole to get you a healthy spark for track work. A relay with fuse are only a few $$$, a little 15amp cabling and a few terminals.....
By the time power runs through the original harness there is only either side of 11v feeding the coils.

The reason I run the Dynatek DC-3 coils/relay is to help boost the spark due to the higher compression I'm running.
This set up when I had the spare stock motor fitted for a while gave a better burn which was more so noticeable under 3/4000rpm.
