96 trx running on one cylinder fix.

Post by bollocks182z » Tue Nov 01, 2016 6:47 am

H i guys, its been a long time since i have posted on here.My 96 trx has developed a rather worrying misfire at high revs, basically running on the right cylinder only at high revs, well yesterday while going for a fuel run,it ran on one cylinder all the way home.Got the multimeter out, checked coils,ht leads, voltages at coils, cleaned every connection i could find, still no dice.Traced the problem back to loose and dirty connections at the cdi unit under the seat.....PHEWW.So lads check and clean your connections there if your having any misfires, cheers andy in tassie.

Handy tip is to use a little dielectric grease on your connectors and terminals...

Hi All, Thanks for that I have the same issue. Sometimes my TRX will run in one cylinder, right now it is running on both, but not too well - left hand ex pipe is slightly hotter than the Right hand one. Will give the dielectric grease method a try. Cheers, Merry Christmas, Russ (NZ)
