Yes I think looking at 3 D printing it is a smart idea.
If you can do it cheap, there is bound to be a market as the Mikuni carbs are used on multitudes of bikes.

Once the words out on a few forums you may be on a winner..

Yet again this forum proves invaluable. Had the same problem and assumed it to be a leak somewhere in the exhaust so re-sealed and tightened everything with no change to problem. Checked and read this post and checked - my right hand carb had exact same cracking in this plastic cover, so have glued that up temporarily and bike now runs perfectly. :D
Now - has anyone got a standard carb or set of 2 they want to sell which has/have these covers in good condition (no cracks or perishing) ?, preferably in South East Qld to save postage. Let me know, thanks.

There was a seller on ebay in Italy that had 10 or more sets of NEW 38mm Mikuni carbs to suit Trx/Tdm/xtz and various ducati's that use the same carbies.
The only difference with the Ducati pair would be the throttle cable/link pulls from a different angle.
That and any primary jetting difference can be taken from your originals.
The needles and emulsion tubes are the same...
They where about $220 shipped to Aust for the pair of new carbies.
Do a bit of a search on ebay, world wide you he may still have a set or 2.

Also don't have the coolant or appear to have the TPS facility either - still cheap carbs :)

Yes 99% of the internals would be generic including that white plastic thingo that seems to be the gremlin people are finding of late.
Can rebuild your carbies with your own body or chop n change throttle/TPS set up..

So did anyone work out where to get a new Air-Cut Valve Cover from in Aus?? I need one too. Have glued mine up but really want to replace it.

You could always buy one from KEDO Ruste.

I don't know that you could make them yourself - if you look really carefully on the inside of the offending
plastic part you can see a tiny air passage which would be required to operate the diaphragm.

I don't know if you could replicate this - if it was just a plain solid disc it would be easy .... :(

Thanks Alex. Was hoping not to pay the stupid amount of freight quoted. Will ask a friend if he thinks he can 3D print it for me. If not I'll annoy Kedo Australia or pester some wreckers.

Hey all. Brand new Rex owner from NZ. Having the same issue, bad popping on overrun. My bike has been fairly modified by the previous owner into somewhat of a cafe racer style including megaphone exhausts. These are very minimal on the baffling and noise reduction, oooooh they do sound good though!! I don't seam to have the same issue with the cracked plug on the carb but am wondering if it's caused by the megaphones and their lack of baffling? I have read this can cause the same issue. I ride her everyday as my main mode of traffic avoidance so before I start stripping and diagnosing I want to try rule out the mufflers. Any light shed would be much appreciated!
