balancer shaft o-rings ?

Post by Rane850 » Mon Mar 16, 2009 1:43 pm

why front balancer shaft does not have o-ring but rear one has. This info is in parts cataloque but work shop manual says both shafts have o-rings.
I did not have o-ring in front shaft :?

I might be wrong but a measured guess would be that the rear balancer shaft has some interaction with an oil gallery, therefore the shaft is fitted with O rings to stop any `bleed` of oil, thereby causing an oil pressure loss.
Yamaha would not have bothered machining a groove in the rear balancer shaft for O rings if they were not required.
