rev limiter cutting in early

Post by the trxtor » Wed Oct 15, 2008 9:25 pm

My TRX rev limiter is cutting in very early. I bought it as a crash damaged bike from a mate who had it lying in his garage for a couple of years, its a Japanese import , which Ive R1 forks fitted and the speedo removed. Im only goin to use it as a track bike. Does anybody know do I have to fit a cdi unit from a uk bike? Or can I link out the switch on the speedo? if so how do you do it? The speedo has 4 wires goin to it they are a brown a black a red and blue.

I think you can just replace the Japanese CDI with a UK one, otherwise you'll need a derestrictor thinger.

:? 2 things, you say it cuts in early, wouldnt be 7000 revs would it? If so thats the Japanese limiter, I've posted here about getting a de restrictor. If not someones hacked about inside on the little plate thing, Does all sorts of weird things. As said You can either buy a de restrictor from Japan, which just plugs in, or get a UK spec CDI.

There's a 4UN cdi on fleabay at the minute. Do a search for 'TRX cdi' and it'll turn up, but the joker wants £60 plus post for it.

I reckon it's pretty reasonable - you tried asking Yamaha how much they are new?
