pillion hanger frame mounts

Post by TonyDevil » Tue Aug 12, 2008 5:44 pm

Hutch noticed the right hand can was vibrating a bit while following me
checked it and both the mounts had snapped off the frame
popped into the cruiser shop in southend on my way home and for the price of a drink for the guys in the workshop they are now welded back on

the bike hasnt been over on the right (it was dropped on the left once before)
not seen this as a common problem, anyone else had it?

Hi TonyDevil!

As far as I know from the German forum, this does happen occasionally because of the "good vibrations" and obviously bad quality welding at this part.

And as they're welded on again easily this is not really a thing to worry about (if its welded properly!).

At my TRiXie one of the fixing points of the left iginition coil mount is broken due to vibrations ... but as long as the other one's still in one piece ... 8)

Unagitated greetings from Munich!

thanks for the info :)

its only welded across the front as i couldnt be arsed/didnt have the time to strip the undertray off
(i had only nipped out from work so didnt want them noticing i was missing 8-[ )
so at some point i'll have to strip her down and have it done properly
i dont take pillions on TRiXy anymore, the only one i had that was crazy enough to do it has got lazy
she got used to the TDMs topbox/backrest & grab rail and is now too scared to go on the TRX
