honing bores

what is the best grit to go for with the honing tool when i fit new rings to the engine ? the tool comes with 180 grit but this seems a bit rough to me , also do you use cutting compound or something like wd40.... :? :? :? :? :?

I was recommended brake fluid so that was my choice...

I never do that because my knowledge levels are pretty damn low, if it´s a person i trust they won´t get a why...if someone ask me on computers and electronics they can take my word for it 8)

WD40 is a lubricant (not a cutting fluid) I'd use parafin myself... 180 grit sounds about right.

well for all those that are interested......... if you go to the wiseco site there's a section on boring and honing with all the info you will need ,, they even tell you about the plateau finishing ,,its a bit technical so it wont suit everyone , :D
