Valve Clearances - how difficult?
My rider TRX pops and bangs and there's no noise from the top end when running. I suspect the valve clearances need doing, but reading the manual it seems like it needs doing by someone more mechanically competent than I. I booked in at a local dealer but they don't seem confident tackling a 20 year old bike. Anyone recommend a garage somewhere in the South of England capable of doing this that won;'t charge a fortune?

Just a point, if you get the valves clearance adjusted ensure they also balance the carburettors after. As the adjusted valves will change the inlet chamber vacuum.Mav617 wrote:My rider TRX pops and bangs and there's no noise from the top end when running. If it's not made in China, it's a fake!

Hi Mav,
Give Normandy Motorcycles a try, they aren't too far from you (Normandy, Nr Guildford) but they are a proper old school motorcycle garage so they shouldn't have a problem with the TRX.

Hope it helps. I don't work for them, I just appreciate proper garages that haven't sold out to become dealerships, I bought my first bike from them, oh... too many years ago.
