Has anyone used pattern shims such as these?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190962055512? ... 1423.l2648
Not sure how much genuine Yamaha shims are but I need 10 of them (Kent cams going in) and I want to avoid another big bill in my rebuild.
Can't see why these would not do the job unless they are made of cheese?
I have got 20 shims at between 1.7 to 1.85mm if anyone needs some or wants to do a swap? I need 2.00 (3off), 2.05 (3off), 2.30 (3 off), 2.35 (1off) and 2.40 (1off).
CBR600RR shims are also 7.48mm OD and go up to 3.60mm for info (max Yamaha TRX shim is 2.40mm).
Thanks

Ooops.
Before anyone asks about my 11 valve TRX, I meant 2off at 2.30mm.

Re: Non genuine valve shims
They'll work just fine, I used similar pattern shims, and have had no problems whatsoever. From an engineering point the required shim characteristics are hardly demanding. Why pay Yamaha prices unnecessarily?misterdimwiddy wrote:Has anyone used pattern shims such as these?

A Hot Cams shim kit from the states may work out cheaper if it's got everything you need... plus you've got shims for the future.

Re: Non genuine valve shims
Thread revival:
These guys (Australia/New Zealand) have valve shims on sale.
Five shims of your chosen size for $AUD 5.99. Weirdly, you can only have 5 items per order so I had to place two orders to get ten different sizes.
The size range is 1.2 mm - 3.5 mm
http://www.torpedo7.com.au/products/T7E ... m---5-pack
I ordered ten sizes from 1.5 - 1.95 and they arrived in about a week.
Postage was free so I got 50 shims in my choice of sizes for about $60 delivered - I think that's great value.

Be aware that the TRX/TDM 850 shims are actually 9.48 mm diameter!misterdimwiddy wrote:CBR600RR shims are also 7.48mm OD and go up to 3.60mm for info (max Yamaha TRX shim is 2.40mm).
