Snapped drill bit in stud

Post by bubbaad » Thu Apr 18, 2013 12:48 pm

Head is off bike and I just drilled out one broken stud no problem. Drilling the second one I've managed to snap a 2mm drill bit off in the stud and I'm stumped. Have tried drilling it with a carbide centre bit but it's not happening. Stud is recessed so I can't weld to it.........HELP #-o #-o #-o

I'm sure that in a city like Manchester there would be several firms that do spark erosion. Show them your head and see what they can do. Ive seen a spark eroder and a good operator remove even broken carbide taps from a hole leaving the threaded hole undamaged.
