Tell me if I'm being exceedingly silly, but it's not just overrun is it? A bit of popping and banging as opposed to outright misfire???

Sorry, maybe should have said overrun. Can’t recall having it on a TDM a few years back.

Open pipes on the overrun tend to burble and pop - if it is actually banging the engine is running too rich.

Misfire wasn’t the right description, “pop†would be better; happens very occasionally when blipping the throttle changing down (only when giving it some stick) It doesn’t seem to be a prob’ it sound’s quite good, I was just wondering if it’s normal.

If it's only occassionally and when giving it stick, the most likley cause is unburnt fuel in the exhaust igniting when the gear is re-engaged.
This can be achieved (with very amusing effects in tunnels) by flicking the kill switch, cracking the throttle and then flicking the switch again - he he he!

It won't do your engine any harm, certainly if it's only happening occasionally. Sounds great, doesn't it?!

oh yes - scared the crap outta a bunch of little scooter kids once - 2 or 3 of them hit the floor - I think they thought the bunch of bikers heading towards them were shooting at them LMAO

I did it in Croatia last year and a local shielded his kid and lay flat on the pavement.................guess these folks still have bad memories
Most likely cause is a tiny leak at an exhaust joint, mixing air with the unburnt fuel...............
