Just some useless trivia, but Hyams Beach in the pic I posted, is acknowledged by The Guinness Book of World Records as having the whitest sand in the world. Something to do with the silica content I think from memory.
It must be true, I read it on the internet.

Going back to the weather folks, check this out:

http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=uk7dayx2

Type in` City Of Edinburgh` then click on tomorrow.
From 23 degrees C to `perhaps` 3 degrees C within a 48 hr period, with a 68% chance of friggin snow too!
Now you can see how bike building outside in Scotland can be slow progress.

Ok, well snow is actually chrystalline, each flake individual, no two are the same.
Wet snow is very, well, WET! But when temperatures near freezing it can be much more powdery, smaller flakes, easily compactable and it tends to pack down hard creating more problems for airports, roads and the railways.
The snow today, well that falling here anyway is VERY wet, it`s followed rain too so it tends to melt as it hits a wet surface. The biggest problem will be tonight if we go to minus temperatures then it creeps above freezing slightly and begins to snow.

The Outer Hebrides have to be a close second with sand colour and fineness - a pic on Harris I took a few years ago.......

A coolish water also rejuvenates parts other water's don't reach

We have 2 metre tubs called baths to use warmer water in the northern hemisphere - maybe they haven't caught on yet in the colonies.....................
