The UK blue is Purplish Blue Metallic 7

be warned though, this colour is an absolute bitch to match and is not to be tackled with rattle cans.

I hope your mate knows what he doing - even with the correct colour, getting a match is a bit of trial and error. Was told that the base needs to be silver and then colour added in layers until the match is found.

Yep, that's what i said ! 8)

Jeanette's front fairing has been painted two times (approx. 10 layers) and still isn't the right colour.

As posted in the "old" forum here the color codes according to the year of manufature / model
(sure valid for Germany but I think it should be the same at least for Europe if not for all over the world 8) ):

In the German forum there was a post this February of all TRX colors used in Germany (thanks MaNa!) - the information was provided by YAMAHA Motor Deutschland GmbH:

Model 1996 (code 4UN1):
BLACK 2 (BL2) 004B
PURPLISH BLUE METALLIC 7 (PBM7) 0549
HEAT RED (HTR) 00EY

Model 1997 (code 4UN3):
VIVID RED COCKTAIL 1 (VRC1) 0121
VERY DARK BLUE METALLIC 3 (VDBM3) 0266

Model 1998 (code 4UN4):
VIVID RED COCKTAIL 1(VRC1) 0121
VERY DARK BLUE METALLIC 3 (VDBM3) 0266

Paint colour

Post by clivew » Thu Nov 23, 2006 8:49 am

Well im going for the same colour blue as me brothers, 1st bike in pic. You would have to look hard to tell the difference. Me m8s pretty good so i think i will give it a shot and place them on ebay, see pic. As for the red im sceptical. RS paints want £70 for the paint alone, But if i can get a few done in red and black i will recoup me dosh. :D

In my experience RS paints are just about the most expensive source of paint you can find. Try another supplier. There are lots of paint suppliers, probably one local to you.

Maybe try Standox: http://www.standox.co.uk/portal/

Bike colour match

Post by clivew » Tue Nov 28, 2006 12:24 am

I managed to find a local paint supplier who had my colour made up, Yamaha Red Cocktail P420-YLW5B (ICI 2K)
. £25 Half a litre. Unfortunatly they did not have the blue.
Me m8 has done a paint match sample on a piece of me broken fairing and you cant tell the difference. He used white undercoat and its spot on. :P
As for the blue, his company is trying to track it down.

Old topic, but does anyone know the color code of the black of the TRX? So the black from the black/red one (like the current TOTM) or the plain black TRX?

Anyone know if this is the same colour as the import frames? I have a couple of rust spots that need attention. Ta :D

I have a spare tank in red. Funny thing is the red colour differs from mine, and from what i know the tanks haven't been re-sprayed. The spare tank lacks a vent hose and the hole beneath the filler cap assembly. Mine is a red -96 from Germany, the spare ought to be a 96 as well, but these differences makes me wonder. Spray shop can analyse colour to get the paint code, but which should i go for in case either my bike or the spare has been re-sprayed?

The paintcodes provided by Holer are not complete, are they? What happened with UN2? Black metallic? The green is that the "very dark blue"? Japanese imports?

Can we make an effort to gather all paint codes needed, incl. rims, frames etc?
