how do you use the search engine here?

OK, I must be a goober
I cannot figure the "Search" function on this website
How do i look for "R6 Brake" or "R6 forks" ?
Not whining BUT seems way too hard to do!

All you do is type it into the box up on the top right and click on search. Searching "r6 brake" gives back 1,489 matches (including this thread) so perhaps being a bit more specific might help.

typing in "R6 Brake" returns me a heap of "R6" and a heap of "brake"
not what I wanted
how do I get them together only?

Try R6 brake calipers or bluespot calipers?

issue isnt what i am searching for, specifically.
issue is that when I group 2 words together, such as R6 and caliper, the engine gives me either word, not together.
my question is, how do I only get displays of "R6 caliper" and not displays of either word by itself?

It may be that the forum has it`s limitations but personally I tend to find the search function works pretty well. Albeit there must be some effort by the seeker, looking through the many threads often turned up.
What is it about R6 calipers you specifically want to know anyway? They`ll all fit TRX fork legs, through all years barring the radially mounted variations obviously.
As for R6 forks, yes, they can be used on TRX`s too, even the early right way up 41mm versions.
You can pretty much fit most modern upside down forks by using a TRX stem in either billet yokes to suit or pressed into the standard yokes to suit the forks you might want to use. You may have to play around with steering stops on stock manufacturers yokes though.

bummer,
just bought some later model stoppers R with the wrong bolt pattern.
Will have to keep looking for late model forks now!

It is very irritating wnen comments are posted saying 'use the Search facility' - 847 hits is too many with multiple repititions for me. I haven't got the
time to spend wading through a list that long. As the forum content increases the problem gets worse .........

The search functionality is very crude in comparison with the rest of the site - metalinks, picture hosting etc.
AS the OP said the keywords entered are treated as OR conditions not AND (unlike Ebay) and short words eg R1 may be excluded when combined.
Quotation marks used to delimit a string "xxxxx yyyyyy" are ignored

Can an admin investigate if the forum software can be upgraded to a later version or are enhancements available ?

That's was I was going to write about the search - at least after reading bagmaker's post (made the experience myself much earlier though

).

Maybe there 's something to adjust like to allow two-letter words?

FFS, how long does it take?
Folk are all wanting labour saving gadgets these days, no wonder the Earth is running low of resources.
MAKE TIME to look, you make time to ride and maintain your bikes, what`s the difference?
I`ll remind folk that the forum is run within the budgets of individuals that utilise and manage it, it`s not some government site or one that exists to market products.

It is the latest version.

As you look at that search box up on the top right, you'll see it says "Advanced Search" just under it. Click on that and you'll see there are a variety of options. You can search for threads containing 2 or more specific words and you can limit your search to specific sections of the forum.

The Advanced search isn't very different and doesn't do what Bagmaker wanted.

However as a Google bot indexes the whole site you can take advantage of its (Googles) search capabilities
So by entering http://www.trx850.com and "R6 Calipers" the results returned are a much more manageable 21
