Good Evening

im reading my haynes manual which states that the base gasket must always be replaced

now on both the TDM and Trx engines the base gasket is a pressed steel item ......... surely this can be re-used or am i missing something ?

If you are going to strip the motor down that far, for the sake of reassurance, I would renew, unless its copper which can be reused.

Thanks ........ yes you are probably correct .......... Ive noticed one of the gaskets has a sort of painted surface ....... maybe a sealant of some kind .......... not so on the Tdm though its clean as a whistle
