Sylinder head bolts and nuts

Post by TomiF » Wed Jun 29, 2011 10:15 pm

I had sylinder head removed and installed back, so I'm asking if I need to retighten sylinder head bolts and nuts after running the engine a while or is it enough that they have been tightened once.

If they are torqued down correctly you shouldn`t need to recheck them.

Nuts are tightened to 40nm (haynes) with torque wrench if that is the english word for the tool and bolts to 10nm.

Sounds about right but you can always check out Mr Yamaha`s specs for torque values here:

Thanks! Got it running today for a while and it rattled like a bitch until it stopped with a noice.. It seems that camchain tensioner didn't work properly and chain may have jumped or something. I don't have time to open it again now but lets keep fingers crossed that there wasn't too much damage done.
