my clutch makes a loud screeching noise when dump the clutch on a fast start, its quiet in normal use no slip or drag have I got anything to worry about.....................

Changing the oil sometimes sorts it

Hi vicar!

That's a known issue and was already topic here.

See Screeching clutch... (I uploaded the working instructions again ...)

Yamaha did try to solve the "problem" by drilling some more holes in the clutch plate and use some other friciton plates - but only if some customer did complain 'cause the function is not affected by the noise.

ill 2nd what HolerTogni said. It "shouldnt" effect performance. The clutch is shuddering on hard launch because its not able to push out all the oil between the plates fast enough. With extra hold drilled in, it allows more flow, but not too much to cook the clutch. It "helps" fix the issue. But if you push hard enough, you can still get the effect im told. But have personally not done it. I should really do it i think.. Meh.
