Thundercat forks
Hmmm, not sure given that they'd be as old or perhaps older than the current forks so would need stripping down and refurbing on top of their purchase price. I'm also a bit of a magpie when it comes to new things so I'd end up powder coating the lowers and spending more than a nice set of R1 USDs probably! I've got a friend with a TRX (and a tricked TLR, and Kr1S project) whose in the midst of doing an R1 front end/YZF rear end so I plan to speak to him and might go that route depending on his experience along the way. I will of course be mentioning my R6 conversion!!!!
Off to poke about the net with regards to Thundercat forks! If I recall they are a near enough straight swap?
My wife will be taking out a contract on you Kayla.....

Yep, they go straight in using the all the standard TRX bits. You need a couple of thin (around 4-5mm ish) spacers to go between the TRX spacers and fork legs to get everything lined up, but it's really simple. Your friend isn't called Marshall, is he?

Kayla, the correct answer is that Thunderclap forks are a biatch to fit and an R1 USD conversion is easier!!!
Mate doing the R1 front ends not called Marshall, well not to my knowledge!!

hello corners,
when you get some base settings for your rear shock don't forget to post them on here.

Good point BBB. Got these via the PB Forum that I also lurk on:
preload - 4
rebound - 16 clicks anti clockwise from fully turned in
fast compression - 3 turns anti clockwise from fully turned in
slow compression - 16 clicks anti clockwise from fully turned in
base settings taken from a 2008 R6 handbook.
Much easier to find here when the shock arrives in the week!!
Time to enter the black art of suspension tweaking!!

will go and give them a try now! mine are still set to whatever the previous shocks owner set them at. Though I realise the R6 is a very different bike some base settings are a good place to start.
only an R1 front end conversion left to do

Let me know what you think of the base settings and which way you go from them and we'll compare notes!
