Am looking for something to use as a sealer between the internal tank filler neck, the viton plastic seal supplied with the tank cap and the alloy cap itself.
Whatever I use, it will have to seal and be resistant to petrol.
Alternatives I have found so far are:
Hylomar Universal Blue sealer
Permatex
ThreeBond 1104 - I have an old Brand New tube of it, never used. BUT apparently its been replaced with 1194 because 1104 contains lead?
Need to replace one of the O-rings too as they have gone out of shape - bearing and seal suppliers I suppose?

Re: Alloy tank cap sealer
Not sure I understand just where you mean you want to seal Bob but JB Weld products are very good:

Obviously it`s a permanent `fix`, will you need/require it to be disassembled at any time?
There`s plenty of fuel tank coatings and sealers that might do the job too, think Petseal, Kreem or other similar products.
I`ve heard great reviews about Kreem products, they do an internal exhaust coating that stops bluing for those fastidious custom bike builders too.

Re: Alloy tank cap sealer
No, what I meant is that round Viton sealer between the tank itself and the alloy cap
The one at the bottom surrounded by the allen bolts. I wanna find something that makes a better fluid seal than that seal alone.
Hence I was asking about Hylomar or 3Bond, both of which are petrol resistant.

Re: Alloy tank cap sealer
Hylomar will be ok, avoid using any silicone based sealants.
