Funny you should mention 180 tyre . When I got my rex it had a 180 on it and I thought that was standard fitment until I ran into a mate doing a ride day and we looked at wear points and all the rest of that ride day bull sh-t , so when I fitted the RGV hugger I sat it over the 180 and used a heat gun to softened and made a good fit so you can do that if you like . As for a 180 on a rex it is show boat only , there are some track thoughts ( better rubber choices maybe) but a 160 will turn quicker and for the bikes power in general a 160 would be better . The 180 on my bike was on the standard rim . I did a few ride days on that size tyre before I found that 160 was standard and a better choice . To each his own

Hi bobtrx,
Do you happen to recall what year model that straight 'arm RGV 250 was?
I would hate to order that wrong part. #-o

My son had a 1989 RGV and the hugger was the same , ring a bike wrecker and ask for a hugger for a RGV straight swing arm . Any RGV up to the bannana swing arm should be fine .

I bought my hugger from a crowd in Adelaide in around 2002 I think they were called Replico; nothing special quality wise- just fibreglass (not carbon fibre) and the fit was just so-so but it wasn't particularly expensive. It's been on the bike five or six years so has lasted OK.
