Fitting 06 r6 swingarm

Post by Dys » Sat Jul 13, 2019 6:09 am

Okay folks, I need some help!
I’m attempting to fit an 06^ r6 swingarm to my trex,
Has anyone successfully done this in the past?
From what I can see and measure I’ll need a longer shock linkage to clear the hole
in the swingarm.
I’ll also need to sleeve the swingarm pivot and add some spacers to the effect of around 8mm
Any assistance would be great

Not sure that's been done before, so you probably wont get a great response.

However if you are blazing a new trail we would all love to hear about it!

Hey Dys, how did you get on fitting the R6 swingarm to your TRX?

I bought an R6 swingarm the other day, and while it fits the TRX frame fine, I'll have to buy an R6 wheel, caliper and caliper mount, and I won't know until I fit it all up, whether the chain is going to clear everything. I'd like to know its going to work before I drop any more coin on it.

It will clear. I have a ThunderAce Swing with R6 wheel/brake and R1 sprocket hub and the wheel/hub is the deciding factor not the swing arm. You need to do something to align front and rear sprockets, rear will be too far out offset by something like 6 mm. Either take down the sprocket hub or make a spacer. An offset rear sprocket turned inside will help.

While you are there convert to a 520 chain, it will also help. R6 kit will fit no need to look for TRX front sprocket.

R6 swing arm is longer so will require a more linear relay arm than the TRX’s rising rate relay arm due to the geometry and anti/squatt sweet spot..
If it’s all for bling just bodge it up with spacers and plates

Hey, I haven’t attempted the swingarm as of yet, spent to much time and money on race bikes over the summer and have postponed installing it for a while

Just brace the std swing arm if the braced look is what your after.
I’ve modded a 5 spoke R6 wheel to fit in there.
A few other TRX owners locally have done the same now through the motorcycle engineering shop that did the work.
Or as Jan has done and used a YZF100r swingarm and r6 wheel.
