Lowering bike

Post by Serena.smiler » Sun May 22, 2016 4:08 am

I have been told of 2 options.1 being taking it to the shop and they will shorten the shock. The other is buying shorter linkages. Now I'm only a road rider but am on the tips of my tippy toes. We can't get linkages in NZ and was steered off them. Has anybody used these and how much does it change the bikes performance?

Longer linkages will do the trick for you.
Go to a wreckers and you can use linkages from other bikes.
Std length is 182mm and a 5mm longer linkage will lower it around 10-15mm and 10mm about 25-30mm.
Other option is buy some alloy rectangular stock and cut and drill your own for a couple of $$$
You can easily lower the forks through the trees by 10-15mm so not to upset the handling.
Std forks through trees is 18mm as your base setting.

The TRX i bought last year had longer linkages, the guy i got it from was 4ft nothing and he was an old fella, well he was older than me. I didn't ride it with the long links in place but he did a lot of touring on them with no problems at all. Well that's what he told me anyways. I do have them lying around doing nothing at all i will never use them again.
I believe in G.O.D (Growing Old Disgracefully)
