Which air filter?

Post by WR450FGreg » Sat Apr 04, 2015 7:25 am

.
Can anyone suggest a good quality (stock replacement) air filter for my TRX?

It's still running the original one from the factory after 30,000km.
I'm not looking for increased performance, it's got plenty of power for me like it is.
Also, I don't want to go with any major mods/pods, just looking for a good replacement for the stocker that doesn't cost a fortune.

I see HiFlo filters on fleaBay.
Any good? Anything better?
It'd be nice to be able to wash, dry and re-use it.

Thanks in advance.

+1 on the K&N,
Just clean it as they are cotton, let it dry and off you go again.
It should last the life of the bike if cleaned every few 1,000km and just follow the instructions that will be supplied on correct cleaning and drying.
Don't use compressed air to dry it as it will tear and separate the fibres..
Great value..
I saw some on ebay in the UK at a really good price a few months ago.

TRX carbies are a vacuum style carby and work on the principal of still air so an air box is needed.
Some have used pod type filters but it's a lot of time and work to get the jetting right.

I used a pair of my gran's old tights but the gusset got sucked in and caused excessive richness - phew, thought it was the emulsion tubes......................

No, not that one dandywarhol.
It's my original one, Bimota framed, ex-Aussie title winner (not with me on it though!).
I sold one of my others a few months back, a near complete 1976 350C in bits that I had begun restoring but lost enthusiasm.

They are fantastic bikes to ride. Ever been on one?
Heaps of info about them here: http://www.tz350.net

I used to race a YPVS, the one in my avatar pic and I got a go on a TZ350A with an "E" rear end 18 months ago. A bit rusty in my first session but got a few alterations done for comfort and it all came flooding back by session 2 :)

This one was set a bit rich so it was over 8,000 and 10,250 max. Shaws hairpin at Mallory Park is v. tight so a wide line and a bit of clutch abuse to get out of it.............. :?

PS, sorry folks - off topic
