Spring clean

While i was pulling my old dead battery out I found that the bike was quite filthy and decided a spring clean was in order. I have pulled all the fairings off and found a whole lot of dirt and grease in places I don't want it. I also found a whole lot of accident damage which was quite disappointing. clearly a head on collision with something at some stage.

Wondering if degreasing and pressure cleaning is the way to go or if I just keep unbolting stuff and wiping it off. I don't want to spray water into all the electrical points etc but also don't want to spend a whole day cleaning stuff I never want to look at again. Anyone got hints and tips the best way to get the job done???

I'd stay away from the pressure cleaner for that sort of thing.

A degreaser, cloths and elbow is the way to go

Cover the electrical switch plastic bags and packing tape, degrease hose down with garden hose. Never had a problem.

Yep, I'd stay away from the pressure cleaner for sure.

In addition to forcing water into electrical components, I've found that the pressure cleaning can simply re-distribute the
crap to other areas.

Also, I've had experience of high pressure cleaners actually removing paint - not always desirable!!

Clean soft rags & small amounts of brake clean or similar will get it looking good - it's more work but at least you'll know
it was done properly.
