ALDI RATTLE GUN

Purchased one of these a couple of yrs ago and finally pulled it out of the packet.

Comes complete with ext bar and various sockets for the impact wrench. They advise not to use your std sockets.
Picked up a 2HP compressor, larger diameter H/D 10m long hose, air driven wrench and the rattle gun.
Tools where $20 each and well worth it if you have a compressor.
$10 for the H/D hose and $80 for the comp.
All up payed $130.

Rattle gun loosened the rotor bolt in the blink of an eye .
The bolt is torqued at 90Nm and the clutch basket at 120Nm and well within spec of the rattle gun.
(260, 280 300, 310Nm with the 4 settings on the impact wrench)

Got one from a few years ago, still going strong. They seem to get better every year the Aldi stuff, can't really go wrong.

Yeah Aldi tools don't seem too bad at all.
I bought one of their Air Wrenches (Taurus brand) a few years ago.
At the time I had one of those cheapie Spear and Jackson electrical compressors that Bunnings Hardware were flogging a few years ago.
Couldn't get the wrench to work properly, took it to my work, who had a very large kick-arse compressor and the wrench worked perfectly!

The S&J compressor has since died in the arse and been thrown out.
I should start looking for a new one

Don't ever trust the torque ratings of rattle guns. Especially the cheaper ones.

at best, those ratings are a guide and for them to be remotely accurate your air supply must be exactly what the tool is rated to.

in short, best for undoing nuts and bolts only. especially on bikes where you can make a big expensive mess real quick!

I have a SnapOn 1/4 inch battery rattle gun i use mostly on my bike for taking stuff off. maxed out its 68nm so cant damage too much.

Cheers for that update and well worth noting.
I've only used mine for undoing things like the bolt holding the rotor on the crank and clutch centre then all have been bolted back on and torqued up by t/wrench.
It will prob sit in the back corner of the garage for another 10 years collecting dust ....

Just another note on this….if your compressor dies, don't throw it out! Toss the broken parts but keep the tank and connect it to your new compressor (simple fittings) this will give you a greater capacity for high use tools

I've one similar Rod, means I don't have to start up my compressor just to top up the tyres.
Bought it cheap from the council recycle.

Thats a great idea, especially if you can put the working compressor somewhere to quieten it down and use the header tank as the main outlet.

I've bought a few tools over the years from Aldi and Lidl (are they actually the same place?) and never had a problem with any of it, even things like pozi drive heads have outlasted much more expensive bits from known brands. Only bad press I have heard is from a guy at work that bought a Lidl trolley jack... needed axle stands as well or you had to work bloody fast before the car was back on the ground again.
