Snetterton 13/6/13

Post by misterdimwiddy » Thu Jun 13, 2013 8:12 pm

Enjoyed a terrific day at Snetterton today on my TRX with newly rebuilt 878 motor.

Was surprised to see another Rex in the garages and turned out to be Silver from the forum so we had a good natter about bikes generally and the joys of TRX ownership.

Only revved it to 6k for the first outing to give the new crank/rod shells a chance to bed in.

With time and once I felt happy there were no leaks or strange noises (gearbox oil seal stayed dry), it was pulling 8.5k in top down the back straight on 17/42. Still puffs a bit of smoke on down changes but it always has. Valve guides maybe though it has new seals.

6 dry sessions and one lost to a shower (Silver was almost the only one out there) and then it tipped it down as I hit the A11 heading home (in my Berlingo).

Feels good to be out there again after a lengthy and expensive crank rebuild. Worth all the grief in the end. Not a flicker from the oil light even after a fast session.

Bedford or Donnington next in July.

Spent a fair bit of time during the day riding closely with a bloke on a 10 plate Tuono.

I'd be quite tempted to get one if I ever out the TRX.

Need to read up on them..............looked huge but felt quite light when I swung my leg over it.

Engine is immense, I can get round Oulton just snicking 3/4/5 hardly using the brakes, sept fot chicanes. Its ace dueling with the il4s thinking they've got away and you just blow em off on the corners while their slamming on and blipping  If you like engine braking you need a Tuono :D

Great day, and good company too. Thanks for the oil Phil, you might have been making smoke, but it was me burning oil!
Another first for me, Got me knee down for the first time at the tender age of 57!
Looking forward to the next outing at bedford Autodrome on 8th July.
Phil, Did you spot the scary tree?

I missed it Dave!!!

Must have had my eyes shut again braking for the hairpin.

Have clocked the JUly Bedford date and I am keen at just £79.

Need to give it few days before I casually drop it into conversation with my wife. Should be possible and looks a great track from aerial shots. Not that far from home either.

I'll keep you posted.

How could I possibly miss it???

Looks as though the rider to the left of the image was distracted.

I remember becoming obsessed with a photographer getting a good shot of me at a particular point at Oulton a few years ago. I was trying that hard to look like I knew what I was doing I just went straight on instead of tipping in and ended up 1" from the tyre wall shitting meself. I was that shaken up I indicated and did a couple of life savers when it was time to come off
