Bike + Camera

Always wanted to do a bike-cam, so after trying my big camera on the bike went out and bought a little pocket cam - a Canon Powershot A490 for $117 and a $20 4Gig card and mounted it up above the instruments (have double-bubble screen).
A few earlier failed attempts, but today's effort TAKE5 is beginning to bear fruit. Cut out all the boring shit and just kept the corners and stuff.
The bit at the end didn't really work. I didn't keep a well-defined locus, but I hope you see what I'm trying to do.
Will have another go sometime in the future. Might be able to tidy it up with a bit of editing.

Guess I should have mentioned, it's not utube or similar, it's hosted on my google docs account. You need to download the file and then play it using windoze media player.

Nice video but why you use 15 fps? 25 or 29,75 is standard fps. For fast moving objects a higher frame rate gives a smoother video.

I have an old Panasonic Lumix that will do video, but will only do 30 fps on vga or Qvga. I suppose it depends on how much you wish to spend on a digital camera with a video feature. Oh and a clear screen to video through.

By the way I notice that you seem to have to go up and down in the landscape, I'm sure our Dutch colleagues will be as intrigued as i am, the Earth is flat!!!

Sure does Lars. The camera records in standard 640x480 50fps, but I've cut it down in size (pixels and frames) just so you can download it without it taking forever. Playing it in standard def on my TV with the sound cranked up is just awesome. I have to stop myself from putting the knee out when it comes to a corner!
