Oulton 9th May

Post by Silver » Mon Apr 30, 2007 10:53 am

Have just booked oulton for the 9th May.
Its run by MSV and is actually a novice afternoon event starting around midday which means not such a late ride home. £79.
Anyone else interested?

Had a great day. There was another chap on a trx in the morning group
celebrating his 60th birthday!
The afternoon started dry for the first session, then drizzled for the second and pissed down for the 3rd session. Bit daunting riding on track in the rain, but enjoyable in a different way. Managed to stay upright and ahead
of the rest, overtook a few so can now vouch for the rain performance of the Dunlop qualifiers. Rained all the way home and developed misfire halfway home, we stopped in a garage and let things dry out a bit while the storm passed over and it was fine then. Knackered, acheing, wet but
thats getting old for you!

Good stuff Silver , nothing better than a track day , it costs you 79 pounds ( thats 196 our dollars ) for half a day , how much actual track time is that . we are on average main tracks 200 dollars for a full day 6 x 20 min sessions and smaller tracks 145 dollars 6 x 20 min sessions . What are the costs for tracks in general around Europe
catch ewe later bob

Bob

track days are relatively expensive in the UK - a summer track day on the smaller cricuits like Mallory is going to be around £100 and at Donnington / Silverstone around £150.

Brands Hatch GP is £250 plus in the summer!

I'm seriously considering a few days in France as the circuits over there are much cheaper.

Bob, for those of us on a budget there are some alternatives, early season you can have an evening session at a few curcuits, one we did
recently was at cadwell park and we got 3 X 20min sessions for £35
later in the season this is around £49. But as Peter said most of the full days start around £100 plus.
Personally i find a full day too much and end up missing some of the later sessions. Particularly so if i have to ride home afterwards.

Dave,

Nice one: glad you enjoyed it!

I did Mallory in the wet last year and thought it was brilliant!

Chucked it down all day, and was pouring water out my boots by the end, but it was a good experience: seeing how far you can push it in the wet.

Dave.

I agree with that - a wet track day will teach you loads about the limits of braking etc.

Only problem is that then you want some WOWs (knee down in the wet is awesome) and then some spare bodywork.

Believe it ior not, I went to a couple of TDs last year where I was gutted it stopped raining!
