An email came in earlier today from Champion Ride Days
Fathers day special on at present.. 8) 8) 8)
I purchased a $210 gift voucher and used that to pay for my track day.....$210
When you purchase a gift voucher (before fathers day 03/09/17) for $200 and over you get a free VIP pit area voucher worth $99

So I used the gift voucher to pay for my trackday
I then used the free gift voucher for my VIP Pit Area and I booked in and receive for free

POWER
TYRE WARMERS
CHAIR
CHILLED WATER STATION
MATS
VIP SCRUTINEERING
BIKE STANDS
PRIORITY SIGN ON

Bargain I reckon :D :D

Two Hundred Dollars for a ride day?
It's been a while since I took a bike to the track, but when I did it was fifty bucks each for sixty of us to hire PI for a day. That included St Johns ambo.
Sixty guys for a whole day at Philip Island, and only fifty bucks each!
It actually cost a lot more than that as most guys would go through two sets of tyres and countless gallons of fuel.
How much actual track time do you get for your two hundred dollars?

The first few times I rode at PI it was free. This was before that track had been rebuilt. All you had to do was go to the Lukey museum in the next paddock and sign an indemnity form, then get out on the track. I think it was Champions that ruined the track days at PI. We used to be able to hire the circuit for a day, 3k including insurance and ambo, but once those dicks got their snout in the trough the track management refused to hire if it was for a private ride day. They added nothing except huge costs. We used to have Glen Middlemiss along to give advice and show just how slow the 'fast' guys actually were :), a tyre changer, and a lot of fuel. Almost everyone knew each other so there wasn't much agro. I miss those days.

how much are the Race entries down under?
My local track is about $100 (AUS money) Some of the bigger circuits are $200 for race entry.
Saturday practice before meeting is free if you entered early.

There is a " Race your mate " class they run in conjunction with the Australasian super bike series and it's about $150 from memory.
It's for ex racers getting back into it or people wanting to step up to have a taste.
They stagger the grid so the is 1 row vacant between each row of bikes so they all don't hit the first corner together. Any reasonable bike is accepted and the 3 riders on each row are allotted there space by qualifying time.
So you can have a 600, a 250 and a 1100cc motorbike competing against each other in 1 row.
Your garanteed a trophy as you'll either be 1st, 2nd or 3rd for your allotted grid row.
If you beat the slowest rider in the grid row in front of you. Next race your moved up and the other rider drops back 1 row.

due to limited amount of riders , our races are also "race your mate"type. I race with a BMW (complete national race spec bike) and seriously modified Historic bikes from late 80's, old dudes on 300 Kawasakis, Superdukes, 1098 Ducati, the Pesky 400 Hondas, or whatever the rest of us poor buggers bring along....but it FUN.... :D
